How I Got Here We are sellers of beautiful, mature orchids that I have grown since 1978, both as a personal collection and since the beginning of my business in 1996. I am an Architect, so the logic of the growing environment and appearance of the facility are equally important to me. The best advice that I have gotten was when I asked a well known grower how to grow a specific orchid, and his answer was for me to grow orchids in a place where I would like to be. I now have over 5000 square feet of new greenhouse that is constructed to match my residence. I also have another greenhouse that I am transitioning out of use as time and space permit. My collection consists of orchids that are appealing to me from a wide variety suppliers and breeders that I trust to provide good, interesting plants. I do not select orchids to buy according to awards that they have won. Prior to retirement from my day job, I grew orchids where I lived in Colorado, Republic of Panama, Germany , and Virginia. I have been to orchid shows and nurseries in several countries, and I have seen many orchids growing in jungles as an orchid tourist . I enjoy helping others to get started growing orchids. If you are unsure, as I was when I started orchid growing, you find all the nomenclature and precise growing instructions almost overwhelming. Most orchids are adaptive and forgiving of good intentions, but a little good information will improve survival. We just need to match orchids to available growing conditions to make it successful. Tell us what you like and how you intend to grow them, and we will help select a beautiful variety of orchids with a variety of different colors, shapes and sizes suited to your growing environment. See my brief descriptions of the popular kinds of orchids for beginners in the following orchid pages. Most orchids can be grown on a window sill or with supplemental lights.
