Phalaenopsis

The Phal pictured above is known as a harlequin type.  There are many other colors from large white to red with flares, spots and stripes.  The miniphals are also becoming popular.

Email us and let us put an assortment together for you.

The very popular Phal. or Moth Orchid is a lower light plant that still needs to be in a window to bloom, but it does not require direct sun.  The light should be filtered or the plant placed just out of the direct sun-- not in a corner, below, or to the side of the window.  South, east, or west windows will do.  Water thoroughly when half dry, fertilize, and provide 60 to 85 degrees temperature.  Keeping the plant below 78 degrees in late fall with a little higher light will induce flowering.  Repot every year for best results.  If you buy them potted in sphagnum moss, repot them soon after they bloom--wear gloves to handle moss.  Repot into a granular bark based mix.
